Day 7 of 7, closing this study on trusting God with your money.
Seven mornings ago I started this study with contentment, because that's the piece I'm still learning. I want to close it with the fear underneath the whole thing, the one I suspect a lot of you share whether or not you've said it out loud: running out. Outliving the money. Needing more years than the account has left in it.
"The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing."
Psalm 23:1
David wrote that as a shepherd himself, someone who knew exactly what it took to keep a flock fed through a season with no guarantee of rain. He wasn't claiming his own resources never ran low. He was claiming something underneath the resources: a shepherd who doesn't lose track of the flock between green pastures. "I lack nothing" isn't a math problem. It's a claim about who's doing the leading.
I still check the balance. I still build the spreadsheets. But this week reset something in me about where the actual security lives. Not in the number holding steady. In the shepherd who's never once lost a sheep to arithmetic.
If this week was useful, there's another one starting soon, on a different piece of this same season. I'll let you know when it's here.
Today's Question
Looking back over this week, which morning are you most likely to need again?
A Short Prayer
Shepherd, you know the fear of running out better than I do, and you've never once let it come true for your flock. Lead me. I lack nothing while you are. Amen.
God bless,
Paul
