Sustained to the Gray Hairs

Day 7 of 7, closing this study on aging without shrinking.

Seven mornings on aging, and I want to close with the verse that quietly covers everything the other six only pointed at from different angles: the strength, the crown, the future, the purpose, the wisdom. All of it lands here.

"Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will rescue you."

Isaiah 46:4

"I am he" gets said twice in that one verse, like God's making sure it lands. Not a promise that fades as the gray hairs increase. A promise that gets more specifically aimed at exactly that stage: to your old age and gray hairs, he says, not despite them. He made me. He'll carry me. Whatever shrinking the world wants to assign to this season, he's already declared the opposite plan over it.

I started the pharmacy counter story on day one because it's still the small, ordinary place I feel the shrinking most. I'm ending the week believing that counter isn't the whole truth about me. Isaiah 46:4 is closer to the whole truth.

Two more studies from this week are still ahead. I'll let you know when they're ready.

Today's Question

Where do you most need to hear "I will carry you" this week?

A Short Prayer

Lord, you made me and you'll carry me all the way to the gray hairs and past them. I don't have to shrink. You haven't asked me to. Amen.

God bless,
Paul
